RU+MU House
RU+MU HOUSE
Client: RU+MU
Design 2020
Location: Muğla / Köyceğiz
Located in Köyceğiz, Muğla, the RU+MU House was programmed and designed to serve as a short-term retreat for a young couple looking to escape the metropolis, while transitioning into a permanent residence in the long term with the capacity to host guests. The couple's daily life habits were the primary determinants in the planning of the house. Due to the limited footprint dictated by local zoning regulations, the ground floor was organized as a large, open-plan living area where all indoor and outdoor spaces connect directly to one another. The old water canal on the site and the trees that naturally grew around it were influential in the building's positioning, providing shade and privacy for the outdoor living areas.
While settling into the significant slope of the terrain, the building connects the entrance and garden levels through internal stepping between its spaces. The general structural characteristics of the building consist of materials and details that are locally available and familiar to the region's craftsmanship.
